Raffel, Edward V., of White Plains, NY, died on Tuesday, June 7, 2016 at Greenwich Hospital, Greenwich, CT. He was 51 years old.

Mr. Raffel was born December 10, 2016 in Staten Island, NY to William J. and Mary Ann (Knazik) Raffel. He was a 1982 graduate of Lehman High School.

Eddie was a manager with Durant Tool Rental in Wappinger Falls, NY. He had lived in White Plains for 30 years, having lived in the Bronx prior. Eddie had owned the Stony Point Karate Club, a dream of his. He was a black belt and teacher of Karate. Through Eddie’s passion and desire to ‘leave no child behind’, he provided karate lessons to hundreds of children who without Eddie’s kindnesses, would never have been able to participate. Of course, this was done without recognition, just as Eddie preferred. He had a very big heart and a kind word for everyone.

Eddie was an avid fan of the Giants, Rangers and Yankees.

Besides his parents, Eddie is survived by his soulmate Sophia Scarpelli of White Plains, two brothers, Michael F. Raffel of the Bronx, NY and Thomas F. Raffel of Brewster, NY, also a niece Serena Raffel and a nephew Timothy Raffel. He was predeceased by his brother, William J. Raffel Jr. in 1978.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, June 13,, 2016 10:00AM at St. Lawrence O’Toole Church, Brewster, NY. Interment following at St. Lawrence O’Toole Cemetery, Brewster. Friends may call at the Beecher Funeral Home, 1 Putnam Avenue, Brewster, NY on Sunday from 3pm-7pm.
