Eleanor Margaret Jacobson Obituary

Ellie Jacobson, born Eleanor Margaret Rogener, to Margaret (Sabrelli) and Charles Rogener was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother and friend. She was a generous, fun loving and playful person.

She did her part during the war effort volunteering with the Red Cross and writing letters to the soldiers. After the war, Ellie went to work at New York Telephone starting as an operator and eventually becoming a manager. It was at New York Tel that she met her husband, William E. Jacobson (who predeceased her in 2000)

After a romantic courtship, they married in 1947 and had their only child, William E. (Billy) Jacobson, Jr. in 1954. Although Ellie left New York Tel to become a full time mother, she worked as a crossing guard for Holy Rosary School and volunteered until she started working for Sears in 1963.

She enjoyed spending summers at her beloved Peach Lake cottage where she entertained numerous friends, played softball with the Peach Pits, taught numerous children how to swim and enjoyed many community costume parties and dances. She eventually retired to Peach Lake with her husband in the 1980’s.

Ellie was an elegant woman that always saw the sunnier side of life, only had kind words to say and was full of endless energy for working around her Peach Lake Cottage, baking her famous coffee cake and cream puffs, and shopping,

Ellie is survived by her only child, William E. Jacobson, Jr., her daughter-in-law Maureen Callaghan Jacobson and youngest brother, Ray Rogener.
