Ellen Jane Knox, a lifelong resident of Brewster, NY, died peacefully at Danbury Regional Hospice on Sunday March 7, 2021 with her family by her side. She was 80 years old.

Ellen Jane was born on December 24, 1940 in Rochester, NY, daughter of the late John T. and Marion (Scolpino) Dunford. She was a graduate of Brewster High School and attended Berkley Secretarial School in White Plains, NY.

On August 19, 1962 Ellen Jane married the love of her life Raymond C. Knox at St. Lawrence O’Toole Church, Brewster, NY.

Ellen Jane was an Administrative Assistant with Union Carbide Law Department in Danbury, CT for 10 years before retiring in 1990. Prior to working with Union Carbide she was a legal secretary for various law firms in Putnam County. She was an avid reader, enjoyed her time at the casinos and trips to NYC with her family, especially a Broadway play. Mrs. Knox also loved dining out with her husband and family.

Mrs. Knox is survived by her loving husband Raymond, her children; Raymond C. Knox Jr. and his wife Katherine of Brewster, NY, Melanie L. Knox and her partner Joseph Harrigan, her grandchildren; Kira Rae Knox, Kyle L. Knox and Zachary J. Harrigan-Knox, her brother John J. Dunford and his wife Phyllis of Brewster, NY and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, March 15, 2021 11:30am at St. Lawrence O’Toole Church, 31 Prospect St, Brewster. Interment will follow at Fishkill Rural Cemetery. Friends and family may visit Beecher Funeral Home, 1 Putnam Avenue, Brewster, NY on Sunday, March 14, 2021 from 2pm-6pm. Due to COVID-19 the funeral home is restricted to 50 people at one time in the building, you may be asked to wait outside. Masks must be worn in the funeral home.
