Florence I. Towey, of North Salem, NY, formerly of Goldens Bridge, NY, died peacefully on October 9, 2016. Just one month shy of 103 years old.

Ms. Towey was born November 9, 1913 in Somers, NY, daughter to the late James J. and Elizabeth (Wuest) Towey. She graduated from Katonah High School in 1933 and later attended White Plains Business School in 1943. After attending the White Plains Business School she was employed as a personal secretary at Pan American Airlines. She retired in 1956 from Pan Am and began working as the secretary to the Personal Manager at Grand Union in Mt. Kisco, NY. After 19 years she retired in 1975.
Working with Pan Am allowed her to travel the world and she enjoyed every moment of her travels. She enjoyed baking and gardening. Florence was dedicated to her family, her siblings, nieces, nephews and everyone were very near and dear to her. She was an active parishioner with St. Joseph’s Church in Croton Falls, NY.
Florence is survived by her two sisters; Myrtle Lally and Alma Moravick and her many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. She was predeceased by her brothers; Joseph, David, Walter, Edward and Thomas and her sister; Martha Sniffen.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday October 15, 2016 at 11:30 am at St. Joseph’s Church, Somers, NY. Interment will follow at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Somers, NY. Friends may call Beecher Funeral Home, 1 Putnam Avenue, Brewster, NY on Friday October 14, 2016 from 4-8pm.

In lieu of flowers contributions in her memory may be made to St. Joseph’s Church 95 Plum Brook Road, Somers, NY.
