Genevieve R. Bauer, of Narragansett, RI, Formerly of Brewster, NY, died Monday January 6, 2014 in Wakefield, RI. She was 97 years old.
Mrs. Bauer was born July 14, 1916 in Harrison, NY daughter of the late Harry and Rose (McAdams) Reilly. She graduated the college of New Rochelle with a bachelor degree in education and received her Masters degree in English from Fordham University.
Genevieve married William A. Bauer on December 26, 1938 in Harrison, NY. Mr. Bauer predeceased his wife on November 14, 2004.
Mrs. Bauer worked as elementary school teacher at the Harrison Central School District for 32 years before retiring in 1973. She was a member of St. Lawrence O’Toole Church in Brewster.
Genevieve is survived by her two children, Janet Brownlee of Southampton, NY and Jack Bauer of Narragansett, RI, 8 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday January 10, 2014 10 AM at St. Lawrence O’Toole Church in Brewster. Internment will follow in St. Lawrence O’Toole Cemetery in Brewster, NY. Calling hours will be held on Thursday from 4-8 pm at Beecher Funeral Home, 1 Putnam Ave., Brewster, NY.
