Geraldine Ann Zamoyski, MD, FAAFP died 7/29/2012<br>Born January 12 1927 at home on Valentine Avenue, The Bronx, New York. She was the third daughter of unschooled immigrants Michael and Anna Zamoyski.<br> After high school she went to medical technician school and then worked for a General Practitioner in the Bronx for seven years during which time she decided that she wanted to be a doctor.<br>Jean, as she liked to be called, put herself through night college at Columbia General Studies while working full time for Dr O'Connell then applied and was accepted to NYU-Bellevue Medical School. After graduation in 1958 Dr. Zamoyski took her internship at Lenox Hill Hospital, NY. While there she met Ammiel D. Schwartz, MD, who was taking his OB-GYN residency there.<br>They married on Valentine's Day 1960 and, after finishing their training, set up practice at 175 Main Street, Brewster, NY in 1961.<br>They had 3 children Jonathan 51 years old, Jennifer 50 and Michael 49.<br>Dr. Zamoyski was at different times a boarded Family Physician, Health Officer, school doctor, ten years as President Putnam County Health Dep't and ultimately full time and teaching in the Dep't of Medicine at Westchester Medical Center, Valhallah, NY. She also was part of the first Medical Board of Putnam Community Hospital.<br>Dr. Zamoyski died peacefully at home. At her request there will be no services.
