Burke Jr., James F., age 98, of Brewster, NY, died Tuesday, July 5, 2016 at his home in Brewster, NY.
Mr. Burke was born August 13, 1917 in Brooklyn, NY to James and Margaret (Miller) Burke. He attended schools in New York City. Mr. Burke had served in the Army during WWII as a Tech Sergeant.

Mr. Burke married the love of his life, Dorothy Moloney on March 25, 1944 at Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Queens Village, NY. James and Dorothy called Brewster home for the past 63 years, having lived in Long Island prior.

Mr. Burke was a printer with the Danbury News Times Newspaper for over 30 years, retiring in 1982. He had worked with the Brewster Standard Newspaper and NY Newsday prior. Mr. Burke was a great supporter of charities, an avid Mets Fan, and enjoyed traveling the east coast from Nova Scotia to Florida.

Besides his wife Dorothy of 71 years, Mr. Burke is survived by his four children, Peter J. Burke (Catherine) of Carrboro, NC, Stephen R. Burke (Giselle) of Philadelphia, PA, James M. Burke of Manhattan, NY and Kathleen E. Burke of Carmel, NY; a sister, Elizabeth Watkinson of the Albany, NY area; four grandchildren, Jesse Burke of New Haven, CT, Colin Covitz of San Angelo, TX, Emma Burke-Covitz of Carmel, NY, and Mariah Burke of Philadelphia, PA. Also three great grandchildren, Callum, Eleanor and Declan Sinclair Burke. He was predeceased by a brother Frank Burke and two sisters, Catherine Mahnken and Mary Burke.

A private cremation was held earlier.
