James D. Carey

James D. Carey, age 65 of Brewster, New York, died Sunday, December 27, 2015 at his home.<br><br>Mr. Carey was born October 11, 1950 in Manhattan, NY, son of the late John and Marjorie (Fleming) Carey. His mother Marjorie having recently passed at the age <br>of 102. He was a graduate of Cardinal Spellman High School in Bronx, NY. <br><br>Mr. Carey was an electrician for the IBEW Local #3 in Manhattan for 36 years, retiring in 2005. He had lived in the Bronx before moving to Brewster in 1977.<br><br>Through the years, Mr. Carey was a softball coach for his daughter Meghan’s team and enjoyed attending many a sporting events for both his son James and daughter Meghan. He was an avid Giants fan and enjoyed the many home related projects that pop up along the way. His family was very important to him.<br><br>He is survived by his former wife Maureen J. (Hilgenberg) Carey of Brewster, his son James G. Carey of Manhattan, NY and his daughter Meghan Dell of Huntersville, NC. A brother John Carey of Williamsburg, VA and two sisters, Eileen McGirl of Burke, VA and Fran Small of Williamsburg, VA. Also a granddaughter Charleigh Dell and several nieces and nephews.<br><br>A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Lawrence O’Toole Church in Brewster, NY on Thursday, December 31, 2015 at 10am. A private cremation was held earlier. Friends may call at the Beecher Funeral Home, 1 Putnam Ave. Brewster on Wednesday, December 30th from 7 to 9pm. <br><br>In lieu of flowers, contributions in James’s memory may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, PO Box 1000, Dept. 142, Memphis, TN 38148-0142 <br><br>
