<br>Lewis, James, age 94, of Danbury, CT, formerly of Putnam Lake, NY, died Saturday, November 12, 2011 at his home. <br><br>Mr. Lewis was born April 26, 1917 in County Waterford, Ireland to John and Bridget (McLaughlin) Lewis. His formal education took place in Ireland. He then served in Her Majesties Royal Navy where he attained the rank of Petty Officer.<br><br>Mr. Lewis married Gladys M. Codd in March of 1942 in Wales. Mrs. Lewis died May 29, 2006.<br><br>Mr. Lewis was a self employed home improvements carpenter.<br><br>Mr. Lewis had lived in Putnam Lake for many years before splitting his time between New Fairfield, CT and West Palm Beach, FL. He had lived in Danbury in recent years.<br><br>Mr. Lewis was an avid reader and soccer fan, as well as, a golfer, player of darts and shuffleboard. <br><br>His love for his wife and family was paramount in James’ day to day approach to life. He will be greatly missed.<br><br>Mr. Lewis is survived by two daughters, Ann Perricelli and her husband Ralph of Somers, NY and Gaynor O’Neill and her husband John of New Fairfield, CT; 2 grandchildren, John O’Neill and Peter and Kelley Coccaro; 3 great grandsons, Matthew and Christopher O’Neill and Ryan Coccaro.<br><br>A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, November 16, 2011 10:00AM<br>at St. Lawrence O’Toole Church, Brewster, NY. A private cremation will follow. Friends may call at Beecher Funeral Home 1 Putnam Avenue, Brewster on Tuesday from <br>3:00PM to 8:00PM. <br><br>In lieu of flowers, contributions in Mr. Lewis’s memory may be made to The Regional Hospice and Homecare of Western Connecticut, Inc., 40 Main Street, Danbury, CT 06810.<br><br><br><br>
