Joan L. Schneider of Pawling, NY, formerly of Brewster, NY died peacefully at her home on Friday September 25, 2015 at her home. She was 81 years old.

Joan was born September 6, 1934 in Mt. Kisco, NY, the daughter of William Clark and Helen (Paddock) Ruffles. She was raised in Brewster, NY and graduated from Brewster High School in 1952.

Joan had many careers during her lifetime. She worked for the Pawling School District as well as Brewster Ford and National Semi Conductor. She was past president of the Brewster Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary and past member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Putnam County Volunteer Firemen’s Association.

Joan was a loyal Mets and Giants fan, never missing a game. She also enjoyed NASCAR racing.

She is survived by her children; Judy L. Sechny and her husband Robert of Brewster, NY, and Wayne Schneider and his wife Jane of Pawling, NY. Her grandchildren Emily Sechny of Boston MA, James Schneider of Dover, NY, Michael Schneider of Wingdale, NY, Thomas Schneider of Dover, NY and Joseph Schneider of Dover, NY, her 8 great - grandchildren and her previous husband Edward Schneider of Patterson, NY. She was predeceased by her son Edward Schneider in 2011, her grandson Adam Sechny in 2012 and her brother Douglas Ruffles, and her loving companion Donald Reeves in 2007.

A wake will be held on Thursday October 1, 2015 at Beecher Funeral Home, 1 Putnam Ave., Brewster, NY 10509 from 4 to 8pm. Interment will be private.
