John (Jack) F. Power, Jr., age 82, of Gipsy Trail Club, Carmel, NY, died peacefully under the attentive care of his daughters and the nursing staff at Waterview Hills in Purdys, NY on July 21, 2019. Jack was born on January 9, 1937 in New York City to John and Margaret (Morrissey) Power. Jack was raised in Stamford, CT and graduated from the University of Vermont in Burlington, VT. He started working at Blyth Eastman Dillion & Co. in New York and spent his entire career working on Wall Street. He was married to Lorna Hayden Power in 1969 and they raised their family together. In 1995, he married Cathleen McKeon Power until her death in 2017. Jack is survived by his three children, Jack III, Paige Power Metzger (Scott) and Jennifer Power. In addition he is survived by his step-children Laura Seltzer (Jordan), Victoria Sexton (James) and Kristin Hadgis (Michael). Seven grandchildren as well as his siblings, Mary Donovan, Patricia Moore, Margaret (Peg) Mulry, Cathy Schibli, James Power and Elizabeth (Betsy) Maloney. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Thursday, July 25, 2019 at 11:30 am at St. James the Apostle Church in Carmel, NY, followed by a burial of cremains at St. Lawrence O’Toole Cemetery in Brewster. In lieu of flowers, donations in Jack’s memory can be made to Friends of Karen, North Salem, NY or the Wounded Warrior Project. In addition, the staff at both Northern Westchester Hospital, Mt. Kisco and Waterview Hills in Purdys were exceptional in their care, attention and compassion. A contribution to any of these organizations is preferred over flowers.
