Joseph DiBella, of Brewster, NY, died peacefully on Monday March 26, 2018 at Putnam Ridge Nursing Home. He was 76 years old.
Born on June 13, 1941 in the Bronx, NY, son to the late Joseph and Vera (Dell’Aira) DiBella. He graduated from Brewster High School in 1959. On August 26, 1961 he married the love of his life Marilyn J. Knapp at the First Baptist Church of Brewster.
Joseph worked for NYSEG for 25 years moving up in the ranks to a chief lineman before retiring in 1987. He was also the co-owner of Brewster Carvel and Brewster Seafood. Mr. DiBella ran as well as coached the Southeast Recreation Basketball program. He also coached the Brewster youth football team. He was also a member of the Brewster Boosters. Joseph enjoyed wood working, but his greatest passion in life was his family.
Mr. DiBella is not only survived by his loving wife Marilyn, but also his children; Joseph DiBella of Brewster, NY, Lori (Roger) Sarles of Carmel, NY, Larry (Susan) DiBella of Bridgewater, CT and Anthony (Tonya) DiBella of Plymouth, CT, his 8 grandchildren; Joseph, Roger Jr., Anna, Elizabeth, Brian, Meghan, Amanda and Dante and his one great granddaughter; Brooklyn. He is also survived by his brother James (Linda) DiBella of Brewster, NY, and his sister in law Jeannette DiBella of Watertown, CT. Also several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother David.
A Funeral service will be held on Thursday March 29, 2018 at the First Baptist Church of Brewster at 11am. Interment will be private. Visitation will be on Wednesday March 28, 2018 from 4pm-8pm at Beecher Funeral Home,1 Putnam Avenue, Brewster, NY.
