Joseph M. Welsh, of Mahopac, NY, died Thursday December 29, 2016 at NYU Langone Medical Center in NY, NY. He was 70 years old. <br>Joe was born February 21, 1946 in Philadelphia, PA, son to Thomas and the late Kathleen (Myers) Welsh. He attended Trenton Regional High School and graduated from Haddon Heights High School Haddon Heights, NJ. Joseph attended Western CT State University after he re enlisted. From 1966- 1974 he had tours of duty in Phu Bai, Vietnam, Berlin, Germany and Fukuoka, Japan. Joe was very proud to serve during the Vietnam War. He retired for a few years and reenlisted in 1991 and served for another 3 years. <br>Joe married Barbara M. Geocos on July 4, 2004 in the backyard of their home in Mahopac, NY. <br>Mr. Welsh was a drummer in his youth and continued his passion in local bands once he retired from the US Army. He was also an artist, taking photographs and creating new works of art with them. Joe was a member of many associations and clubs. His greatest passion in life however was his grandchildren, he tried to do everything with them despite health issues that slowed him down.<br>Joseph is survived by his wife Barbara, his step daughters; Patricia (Patrick) Keane of Trumbull, CT and Tammy (Emilio) Mei of Wappinger Falls, NY, his step daughter-in-law Lisa Geocos of Pawling, NY, his brother; Thomas Welsh of Florida and his 8 step grandchildren; Thomas and Jason Keane, Gabriella, Grace and Dominic Mei, Shea, Luke and Travis Geocos. He was predeceased by his step son Thomas on March 2, 2010.<br>A funeral service will be held on Tuesday January 3, 2017 at 11am at Beecher Funeral Home, 1 Putnam Avenue, Brewster, NY. Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family. Visitation will be held on Monday January 2, 2016 from 2-4 and 7-9 at the funeral home. www.BeecherFuneralHome.com<br>
