Lisa P. Smith

Lisa P. Smith, of Danbury, CT, died peacefully with her family by her side after a valiant battle with cancer on July 26, 2020. She was 60 years old.<br>Born on March 15, 1960 in Greenwich, CT daughter Angela (Addie) (nee Petti) Peter of Cos Cob, CT, and the late Erich Carl Peter. Lisa graduated from Greenwich High School in 1978 and continued her education at Fairfield University receiving her bachelor’s degree in nursing in 1982. From there Lisa expanded her career and continued with schooling at Iona College obtaining a master’s in health administration and after many years of dedication she received her doctorate from Case Western Reserve University in 2006.<br>On October 23, 1983 she married her high school sweetheart, Robert J. Smith. Together they enjoyed 37 years of marriage. She enjoyed going for rides on their motorcycle, vacationing in Aruba, boating with friends on the Long Island Sound, and spending weekends at their home in the Catskills.<br>Lisa's commitment to her nursing profession touched all aspects of her life due to her loving, caring, and accepting personality. Her career was extensive and she was a mentor to many. She worked in Greenwich hospital for many years before becoming the director of nursing education and research at Danbury Hospital. Most recently she worked as Executive Director for Western CT Homecare in Danbury, CT.<br>Lisa is not only survived by her loving husband Robert and her mother Addie but also her three children: Melissa M. Smith and her husband Robert Peschko of Newtown, CT, Michael R. Smith of Raeford, NC, Matthew E. Smith of Danbury, CT, her 3 grandchildren; Harley and Kacey Attonito and Avery Peschko. Also, her younger sister Heidi Hoffman and her husband Brian.<br>A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday July 29, 2020 at St. Edward the Confessor Church, New Fairfield, CT at 11am. Visitation will be held on Wednesday July 29, 2020 at Beecher Funeral Home, 1 Putnam Avenue, Brewster, NY from 3pm-7pm. Due to NYS phased reopening masks are required and we are limited to 25 people allowed at a time in the building, please know you may have to wait to come into the building.<br>In lieu of flowers please consider donations to the American Cancer Society.<br> <br>
