Louise D. Palmer Obituary

Louise D. Palmer, of Brewster, NY, died peacefully on April 21, 2020 at Putnam Ridge Nursing Home. She was 70 years old.
Born on August 14, 1949 in Queens, NY, daughter of the late Martin G. and Ruth V. (Ackerman) Palmer. Louise graduated from Elmont Memorial High School and Berkeley Secretarial School. She married the love of her life, Carl Eugene Hill, in September 2008 who preceded her in death in 2011.
Ms. Palmer was a secretary with the University of Connecticut in Stamford, CT for 10 years before retiring in 2013. Prior to working at the University, she worked for Hitachi Metals for 25 years. Louise loved the ocean, sailing and just relaxing on the beach listening to the waves. She enjoyed gardening, sewing and needlepoint and doing crafts. Most importantly, she was a dedicated mother and grandmother. She treasured her daughter and grandchildren and embraced every moment with them.
Louise is survived by her loving daughter Christine (John) Tomassetti of Brewster, NY; her grandchildren Rachel and John Tomassetti; her siblings Martin Palmer of Loveland, CO and Barbara Palmer Kohl of Branford, CT; her niece Danielle Kohl (Eric) Green, and great nephew Mason. Also, her former husband, Gregory Coccetti, father of Christine.
A celebration of Louise’s life will be held once the pandemic has ended and a Mass of Christian Burial will take place at St. Lawrence O’Toole Church, Brewster, NY. A private service will be held for the immediate family with the help of the Beecher Funeral Home, 1 Putnam Avenue, Brewster, NY.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her memory to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, Louise’s favorite charity
