Margaret Bell Obituary

Margaret Bell of Brewster, formerly of Glen Rock, NJ, originally from Manchester, England, passed peacefully on November 1, 2014. She is survived by her two sons, Peter (and Laurie) Bell of Brewster and Michael (and Emily) Bell of Melbourne, FL; her granddaughter, Nicole (and Anthony) Kosminsky of Sussex, NJ; her great-grandson, Cole Kosminsky; her niece Linda (and Peter) Elliot of Liverpool, England; grand niece Holly and grand nephew Jack also of Liverpool, England. She is predeceased by her sister Jean and her brother Ken, both of England, her husband Dave, as well as her granddaughter Danielle.
Peggy, as most people knew her, was born May 29, 1920 in Manchester, to Colin and Laura Bannerman. She served as a Private in the Auxiliary of the Queen’s Army where she met her husband David Bell who was serving in the United States Army stationed in England. They were married on October 16, 1945 in England and later came back to the States to start a family. They settled in Glen Rock where they bought their home at 77 Godfrey Terrace. Peggy became a US Citizen on February 2, 1956.
Peggy was known for her portrait- quality needlepoint, Saturday mornings spent at the beauty parlor, her love for her granddaughters, enjoying Saturday evenings with her husband at their favorite restaurant (Scordato’s), endless games of Mahjong, occasional Red Hat Ladies’ Luncheons, her impeccable taste in clothes, always being “dressed up” and of course her English accent that she never managed to lose.
The family will have a memorial service honoring Peggy’s life on Saturday November 15, 2014 at 12 noon at Trinity Lutheran Church, 2103 NY Route 6, Brewster. Interment was private. In lieu of flowers donations can be made in Peggy’s memory to the Putnam Humane Society, Carmel, NY.
