Merida Castillo

Merida Castillo, of Brewster, NY, passed away peacefully at home on January 5, 2018. She was 103 years old.
Born on December 16, 1914 in Mayaquez, Puerto Rico, daughter to the late Serapio and Pura (Torello) Fornes. In 1952 she came to the United States and lived in the Bronx until 2001 when she moved to Brewster, NY.
In April of 1932 she married the love of her life Luis Castillo. He predeceased his wife. Merida was an avid Yankees fan, she enjoyed cooking and knitting. Her family was very important to her.
Mrs. Castillo is survived by her daughter Pura Melendez of Brewster, NY, her siblings; Carmen DeJesus and Leopoldo Fornes. She was predeceased by 3 sons and 1 daughter and a brother.
