Mildred Wolfson Obituary

Wolfson, Mildred, age 96, of Rego Park, Queens, NY, died Saturday, July 2, 2016 at Northern Westchester Hospital Center in Mt. Kisco, NY.
Mrs. Wolfson was born December 29, 1919 in Manhattan, NY to Isidore and Rebecca (Kaufman) Gold. She graduated from schools in Manhattan and attended secretarial school as well.
Mrs. Wolfson married the love of her life, Herman H. Wolfson on June 12, 1943 in New York City and then made their home in Queens, NY. They welcomed Mildred’s father, Isidore Gold, into their home, enriching the lives of all around him. Her father predeceased her in 1967. The couple spent 58 loving years together before her very gentle, kind, and dedicated husband Herman passed on January 15, 2001.
When her children reached junior high school age, Mrs. Wolfson resumed her career. Before retiring, she spent eight years at the gift shop of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in Manhattan. Mrs. Wolfson was very involved with the Hadassah in Queens, NY (a Jewish organization of charity work for women). She also volunteered with the board of elections.
Mildred, a selfless person, looked outward for ways to bring joy to those around her. She was always a very loving and caring woman who adored her family, and was a dedicated mother to her daughter, Rochelle, and son Alan. It was important to her to ensure that their lives were happy and full, and that they had the things that she did without.
Mrs. Wolfson is survived by her daughter Rochelle (Harvey) Ginsberg of East Meadow, LI, NY and her son Alan (Elaine) Wolfson of Brewster, NY and five grandchildren, Melissa Glassman, Eileen Unger, Scott Ginsberg, Stephanie Sandler and Natalie Wolfson-Ford. She took joy in her nine great grandchildren, Hope, Leo and Harrison Glassman; Madeline and Margo Sandler; Ethan and Sarah Unger; and Zane and Arden Ginsberg.
A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, July 5, 2016 12 Noon at Knesseth Israel Cemetery, Ellington, CT. All are welcome.
