Muriel Louise Rapp

Muriel Louise Rapp, of Brewster, NY, passed away peacefully at Putnam Ridge Nursing Home on Monday, February 13, 2017. She was 94 years old. Mrs. Rapp was born June 1, 1922 in the Bronx, NY, daughter to the late Charles and Caroline (Widman) Menge. She is predeceased by the love of her life, Frederick C. Rapp, in 2007, whom she married on October 6, 1946 in the Bronx. They had met just after WWII as a result of her membership in the Eastern Star and his in the Masons. <br>With Frederick by her side, they owned and operated Riverside Motel, which they later converted to the Riverside Apartments in Brewster, NY. Additionally, she worked as a dietician for the North Salem Schools. Muriel and Fred spent their retirement years in Big Pine Key, FL where Muriel enjoyed boating, rendezvous events with the Power Squadron, and get-togethers and cards with friends and neighbors. <br>Muriel was a charter member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Brewster, NY, where she played the organ for the morning service for many years. She enjoyed the friendships she made in the Welka women’s club and the crafts they produced for their Christmas sale. She was also a member of the Garden Club of Brewster and enjoyed her friends and their many activities. <br>She is survived by her loving daughters; Carol L. Rezba (Richard) of Key West, FL and Linda J. Salinger (Robert) of Brewster, NY, her five grandchildren, Timothy and Andrew Salinger, Sarah Browne, Elizabeth Bickel and Michael Rezba, and her six great grandchildren, Chase, Austin, Lily, Hayden, Henry and Lyla. She was predeceased by her twin brother Charles Menge and her sister Eleanor Kumpf. <br>A funeral service will be held on Thursday, February 16, 2017 at 11am at Trinity Lutheran Church, Route 6, Brewster, NY. Interment will follow at Milltown Rural Cemetery, Brewster, NY. Beecher Funeral Home of Brewster, NY assisted the family with arrangements. <br>In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in memory of Muriel to the Trinity Lutheran Church, P.O Box 12, Brewster, NY.<br>
