Ralph Chiera of New Rochelle, NY, died peacefully at his home surrounded by his loving family on December 6, 2019. He was 99 years old.

Ralph was born on July 27, 1920 in Fabrizia, Italy, the son of the late Domenico Antonio and Maria Elisabetta Chiera. Ralph married the love of his life, Maria Rosaria Lagrotteria, in 1945. In 1954, he moved to America leaving behind his wife and 4 young children. In 1958, his family joined him living initially in the Bronx and then moving a few months later to New Rochelle, NY.

Ralph was employed by Laborer Local 235 Union in Elmsford, NY, in which capacity he worked on numerous major construction projects in the New York Metropolitan area. He enjoyed hunting and making his own wine. His greatest passion in life was his family and his extensive vegetable garden.

Mr. Chiera is survived by his loving children; Antoinette Troetti and her husband James of Sherman, CT, Jean MacIntosh and her husband William of Bedford Hill, NY, Dominic Chiera and his wife Helen of Brewster, NY, Frank Chiera and his wife Tomasina of Brewster, NY, and Ralph Chiera Jr. of New Rochelle,NY, his 9 grandchildren and his 3 great grandchildren.

A private service will take place at Beecher Funeral Home, 1 Putnam Avenue, Brewster, NY which is assisting the family with arrangements.
