Samuel Christopher Latterner, ‘Chris’, of Brewster, NY, died peacefully surrounded by his loving family at his home on Wednesday April 7, 2021. He was 74 years old. <br><br> Chris was born in Williamsport, PA, son of the late Samuel Neuhard and Mary Eleanor Eschbach. He grew up in Crestwood and New Rochelle, NY. Chris graduated from Concordia Prep High School, Bronxville, NY. Following high school, he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force, he was honorably discharged after four years of service. Following his service, he attended the University of Nebraska at Omaha receiving his bachelor’s degree, he then continued his education at Hunter College School of Social Work receiving his masters. <br><br> Mr. Latterner married the love of his life Barbara A. Goodland on August 8, 1970 in Omaha, Nebraska. Together they lived in Omaha, White Plains, and moved to Brewster, NY in 1976 to raise their family. <br><br> He was a clinical social worker with the North Salem Schools for 34 years retiring in 2018 and a psychotherapist in private practice, never officially retiring. Chris was a social butterfly, always striking up a conversation with everyone. His goal in life was to make people smile and laugh with his humor. He enjoyed music, cooking, and crafts, such as woodworking and needlepoint, and photography. He loved the beach, swimming, surfing and boogie boarding. Chris was the best husband, father, and grandfather- his family was his greatest passion. Family dinners were a crucial part of life for him, never missing the opportunity to take his family out to a restaurant on a Friday or Saturday. <br><br> Chris is not only survived by his loving wife Barbara but also his adoring children; Jennifer Latterner and her husband Thomas Jeter of North Salem, Emily Wing and her husband Justin of Westford, MA and Sarah Anderson and her husband Jimmy of Carmel, NY, his cherished grandchildren; Christopher and Isaiah Jeter, Olivia and Holden Wing and one on the way, Baby Anderson, his siblings; Gretchen Latterner and Charles Latterner. <br><br> A memorial visitation will be held on Saturday April 24, 2021 at Beecher Funeral Home, 1 Putnam Avenue, Brewster, NY from 1pm-5pm. Chris was born in Williamsport, PA, son of the late Samuel Neuhard and Mary Eleanor Eschbach. He grew up in Crestwood and New Rochelle, NY.
