Obituary
Walter R. Holubis of Brewster, New York, died unexpectedly on Monday August 29, 2011 in Carmel, NY at the age of 61.
Mr. Holubis was born January 5, 1950 in Mt. Kisco, NY, son of the late Charles and Gertrude (Inselman) Holubis. He graduated from North Salem High School in 1968 then served with the Army in Vietnam from 1969 to 1971. On Sept. 12, 1976 he married Christine Boyce in Tarrytown, NY. They have lived in Brewster for the past 28 yrs. Mr. Holubis retired as a Detective from the White Plains Police Department in 2005 after 34 yrs. He was currently working as Assistant Safety Director for White Plains Bus Company. He was a devoted and loving husband, father, and brother. He loved his dogs, gardening, and grocery shopping. Besides his wife, Christine, he is survived by his three children: Karen Holubis and her fiancée Matthew Menchen of New Fairfield, CT; Kristin Piccini and her husband Torey of Brewster, NY; and Michael Holubis and his wife Allison of Mamaroneck, NY, and two brothers: James Holubis of Danbury, CT and Basil Holubis of North Salem, NY.
Calling hrs. will be Thur. Sept. 1 from 4 - 8 pm at Beecher Funeral Home, 1 Putnam Ave. Brewster, NY. Burial services will be held Saturday, Sept. 3 at 11 am at Peach Pond Cemetery in North Salem, NY.
In lieu of flowers contributions in his memory may be made to the White Plains Retirees Assoc., PO Box 1076, White Plains, NY 10601. Walter was a proud member and this is a request from the family.
