William Douglas Fox Obituary

William Doug Fox, of Brewster, NY, died on Tuesday, May 3, 2016 at Putnam Ridge Nursing Home. He was 78 years old

Mr. Fox was born October 18, 1937 in Mt. Kisco, NY to the late John F. and Marie L. (Kilcoyne) Fox. He was a graduate of Brewster High School. He honorably served in the US Army as a Paratrooper.

Doug married Edna G. Kellogg on May 1, 1965 at St. Lawrence O’Toole Church in Brewster, NY.

Mr. Fox was a driver with Brewster Transit Mix for 42 years before retiring in 2004. He was an active member of the Brewster Fire Department for over 50 years. He was an avid Jets fan and enjoyed hunting and fishing. Doug was a ‘glass half full kind of man’.

In addition to his wife Edna of 51 years, Doug is survived by four sons, Michael A. Fox of Brewster, NY, Patrick J. Fox and his wife Judy of LaGrangeville, NY, Daniel J. Fox and his wife Mary of Brewster, NY, and Andrew C. Fox and his wife Jennifer of Sandy Hook, CT, and his 7 grandchildren, Erin, Hayden, Natalie, Ian, Kaeley, Hannah and Avery. He was predeceased by his sister Janet Caniff in 2010 and his brother John Gregory Fox in 2002.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, May 7, 2016 11:00AM at St. Lawrence O’Toole Church, Brewster, NY. Interment following at St. Lawrence O’Toole Cemetery, Brewster. Friends may call at the Beecher Funeral Home, 1 Putnam Avenue, Brewster, NY on Thursday from 4pm-8pm.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Doug’s memory may be made to the Brewster Fire Department,501 N. Main Street, Brewster, NY.
