Pitkat, William C. Jr., of Brewster, NY, died Friday, November 29, 2013 in Carmel, NY.

Mr. Pitkat was born in Brewster, NY on September 24, 1921 to William C. and Gertrude (Meade) Pitkat. He was graduated from St. Mary’s High School in Katonah, NY. Mr. Pitkat had served in the Navy during WWII.

Mr. Pitkat married Veronica Vassak on June 14, 1953 at St. Lawrence O’Toole Church in Brewster.

Mr. Pitkat was a Fireman with the NY Central Railroad out of Brewster, NY.

Mr. Pitkat was a member of the Brewster VFW post 672. His enjoyment of hiking brought him to both Maine and Vermont; he was an avid hunter and fisherman. Through his love of these many activities, Mr. Pitkat could be found sharing his knowledge and experience on many a trip with his grandchildren.

Besides his wife Veronica, Mr. Pitkat is survived by his son and daughter-in-law Luisa of Brewster and their children, Brandon, Dylan and Steven. He was pre-deceased by a brother Robert Pitkat.

A private cremation will take place. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Lawrence O’Toole Church in Brewster on December 7, 2013 at 11:00 AM. Beecher Funeral Home, 1 Putnam Avenue, Brewster will be assisting the family. www.beecherfuneralhome.com
