Germaine Olive passes at age 97

Germaine Doloir Olive was born on September 20, 1923 in the French Caribbean island of Guadeloupe. She departed this life on June 10, 2020 at the age of 97 at Calvary Hospital located in Bronx, New York. Germaine moved from Guadeloupe to New York City where she met and married her first and only love, Theodore Olive, Sr., in 1976.

Germaine was employed for many years at the Hebrew Home at Riverdale in Bronx NY where she served as a compassionate caregiver to the elderly. Germaine was a devote Catholic and member of the St. Thomas Syro Malbar Catholic Church congregation. Her good friend, Father Jos, the pastor of the Church, frequently visited a bedridden Germaine during these last two years, which was very much appreciated. Germaine was m predeceased in 1986 by her loving husband. She was also predeceased by two sisters and a brother.

Germaine will be missed and will continue to be loved by her family and friends; especially her step children, Theodore Olive Jr., Augustine Olive and his wife Marion, Victoria (Olive) Jacobson; five grandchildren, four great grandchildren; and her niece and nephew, Madeline and Daniel Doloir. Unfortunately, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, there will not be a funeral service. There will be a limited number of guests (immediate family and clergy) allowed at the wake held at Granby’s Funeral Parlor in the Bronx. Germaine will be laid to rest on June 26, 2020 next to her husband Theodore Olive Sr. at Woodlawn Cemetery located in the Bronx. The family asks that prayers be offered in Germaine's name in lieu of flowers or condolences.
