Anthony Ciarletta

Anthony Ciarletta, 70, a lifelong Bronx resident, passed away on September 8, 2013 after a courageous battle with cancer surrounded by his family. Anthony was born on October 23, 1942 in the Bronx to the late Anthony and Anna Ciarletta. He earned his Bachelor’s degree from Fordham University, and was a pharmacist for over 45 years. Anthony married his amazing wife, Linda, on June 11, 1967 in the Bronx. Anthony was the owner of Lato-Ascione Pharmacy in Manhattan for over 40 years, and was well respected and admired by his friends, colleagues, and everyone in his community who had the great fortune of knowing him. He truly loved his family and emphasized the importance of hard work and education. Anthony was a kind, brave, humble, and compassionate person, who always put his family first and was committed to making his community a better place. He instilled these values in his children and grandchildren. He was a devoted and caring husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle. Anthony was a long-time parishioner and supporter of Our Lady of Assumption Church in the Bronx. Anthony is survived by his loving wife, Linda, of the Bronx, and his beloved children, Anthony J. Ciarletta, of Eastchester and his daughter, Lisa Messina of the Bronx. Anthony’s memory is also cherished by his five grandchildren, Adriana, Julia, Anthony, Alexa, and Ava. Additionally, he is survived by his daughter-in-law, Linda, and son-in-law Carlo. He is also survived by his three sisters, Camille Ciarletta, Francine Oliva, and Rose Celentano, sister-in-law, Emily Russo, as well as brothers-in-law, Gino Olivo, Jerry Celentano, and Tony Russo.. He is also survived by his nieces Germaine and Maria as well as other beloved nieces and nephews, and many dear friends. Our family will welcome friends and family on Monday, Sept. 9th from 2pm to 4pm and at 6pm to 9pm at Sisto Funeral Hall. A Mass of Christian burial will be held for Anthony on Tuesday Sept. 10th at Our Lady of Assumption Church located at 1634 Mahan Ave., Bronx, New York at 9:30am. The burial will follow at Ferncliff Cemetery in Hartsdale, New York followed by a meal of mercy.
