Daphne was raised on St. Croix, and grew up with her lifelong best friend Dolores Davis, who survives her. She was always interested in nursing. She relocated to New York City in 1950 and worked for the Health & Hospitals Corporation. While working for them, she attended classes and became a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN). She worked at that position for over thirty years. After the death of her first husband, Stirman Varian, she continued to work as an LPN and expanded her role to include private duties in numerous hospitals in New York City & Westchester County. She also worked in the office of Dr. Robert Adair until she relocated to Hyannis, Massachusetts in 1980, where she was married at the Federated Church of Hyannis to her second husband, the late Col. Farris J. Posey. She was an active member of the church. A member of the Diaconate, President of the Woman's Fellowship and member of The Altar Guild. She enjoyed spending time helping in the Thrift Shop, at the sidewalk sales and the holiday Christmas Commons. She was always willing to help in any situation, when called upon. In 1991 she married her third husband, Chetwynd Abbey, and they moved to Centerville, Massachusetts, where she continued to work in various nursing homes until she retired from nursing in the late 1990’s. Daphne loved to travel and visited numerous locations such as, Hawaii, England, Scandinavia, the Caribbean, and cruised to almost everywhere! While relaxing at home with her favorite cocktail, she loved to cook, bake, read, do word search and crossword puzzles and above all watch Law and Order. She was a vibrant, carefree spirit and we will always carry her memory in our hearts.
