It is with profound sorrow that we mourn the loss of retired firefighter Dennis Freyre, who passed away On October 18, 2018 after a long illness at the age of 65.

He is survived by his two daughters, two grandchildren, 16 brothers and sisters, many nieces and nephews. His parents and a sister predeceased him. Born and raised In Bronx, NY to Joseph Sr. and Carmen Freyre; and a life long resident of the Bronx. Dennis made his career as a firefighter for the NYFD from 1982 to 2006. As a man of compassion and great promise, his dedication and devotion in life was serving as Firefighter for NYFD. He enjoyed and contributed many volunteer hours to Firefighter’s local events and activities. As an avid sports enthusiast he enjoyed boxing, baseball, football and basketball. He became a Golden Gloves champion age 17, and along with his brothers were known as the “Fighting Freyre’s” His father, Joe Sr. as coach guided him to additional finalist runner up championships. An awareness of the passions that made him the exceptional person he was by nature is his love of family, friends, his music, a good party with good food for all. We will miss his Beautiful, precious Smile.

The visitation is from 2 – 9 PM on Sunday, October 21, 2018 at Sisto Funeral Home, 3489 East Tremont Avenue, Bronx, NY 10465. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated on
Monday October 22, 2018, 10 am Mass at Blessed Sacrament Church, 1170 Beach Avenue, Bronx, NY 10472. The interment will be at St. Raymond’s Cemetery, 2600 Lafayette
