Obituary
Francesco (Frank) Cappello of the Bronx, NY, passed away peacefully on March 6, 2014 at his daughter's home in Burlington Flats, with his family by his side. Frank was born in the Bronx, New York on November 29, 1919 the son of Thomas Cappello and Anna Bombace Cappello. He is survived by his daughter, Anna Montesano and her husband Dominick of Burlington Flats, NY; his four grandchildren, Ronald Montesano and his wife Cherie of New Paltz, NY, Michael Montesano and his wife Christiana of Mt. Kisco, NY, Anthony Montesano of Burlington Flats, NY, and Debra Vertoske and her husband Michael of Lancaster, NY; his longtime companion Rose Rubano, his younger sister Sophie Cacciuttolo of Bethpage, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his beloved wife of over 50 years, Angelina Marie; his son Robert, his sister Grace Pio, and brother Paul. He was a veteran of the U.S. army in WWII where he spent time in the Philippines, and Japan. One of his comforting memories of Japan at the end of the war was attending Christmas Eve mass during snowfall with his fellow soldiers. Upon his return, he worked for over 30 years with the U.S. Postal Service until his retirement. He was a communicant of St. Frances de Chantal Church in the Bronx. He was a member of the Northeast Bronx Senior Citizen Center; and a member of the American Legion. Funeral service will be held at Sisto Funeral Home, 3489 E. Tremont Ave. Bronx NY 10465. Sunday March 9, 2014 from 2-5 & 7-9 PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday March 10, 2014 at 10:00 AM at St. Frances de Chantal Church. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
