Monica Doreen English of Throgs Neck, Bronx, New York, passed away on September 1, 2013 at Albert Einstein Hospital. She was 65 years old. She was born in Charlestown, Jamaica, West Indies on September 19, 1947. She married Dennis W. English, but they eventually divorced. They had one child between them: Kamella English. While in Jamaica, she attended Three Hills Primary, Excelsior High School, Harrison Memorial and Amy Bailey's Finishing School. She emigrated from Jamaica to New York City in 1967 and continued her education at Roosevelt High School. She was licensed to practice nursing in the state of New York after attending Elizabeth Seton School of Nursing. She also received a Bachelor's of Science in Community Health from Herbert H. Lehman College. She worked at St. Barnabas Hospital, Mosholu Parkway Nursing Home, FEGS Group Home and Providence Rest among other places. She accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior and was a member of Butler United Methodist Church and later transferred her membership to Westchester United Methodist Church where she was a devoted member up until the time of her passing. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, shopping, eating out, playing games and watching game shows. She was a fantastic cook and a wonderful and nurturing mother. Monica is preceded in death by her father Hugh Sewell. She is survived by her mothers, Pearline Evans and Gloria Greenland, her daughter Kamella English, her sisters, Paulette Evans and Audrith Simpson, and her brothers, Gary Sewell, Gerard Sewell, Aubin Simpson, William Simpson and Lenworth Simpson, her step mother Joyce Sewell and an extended family of nieces, nephews, cousins and very dear friends.
