Shellie Faye McCullough Spear, daughter of Leroy and Alberta McCullough was born on July 13, 1945 in Opelika, Alabama. Shellie spent her formative years in Alabama and attended and graduated from Wacoochee High School In 1963, Shellie moved to the big city and bright lights of New York City. Her motivation and intelligence landed her a job on Wall Street. In 1964, Yolanda McCray was born to Shellie and father Arthur Sheffield. In 1967, Shellie McCullough met the love of her life, Franklin Spear. In 1969, Shellie and Frank became the proud parents of Letitia Spear. They were married in 1982. Shellie remained in Harlem for many years and later moved to the Bronx where she continued to raise her daughters Yolanda and Letitia. Shellie was a strong advocate of education and instilled this concept in her daughters. Shellie graduated from LaGuardia College in 1982 with a professional degree in Nutrition and Dietician. Shellie retired from The Board of Education as a Supervisor for District 9 after 27 years. She was a devout Christian and attended The Family Baptist Church for many years until she joined her husband at his church, Mt. Nebo Baptist Church. Shellie was an Eastern Star of the International Free and Accepted Modern Mason Order of Eastern Star Lily of the Valley Chapter 165. Shellie leaves to cherish her memories: 2 daughters Yolanda McCray and Letitia Spear, 2 grandsons Dontée McCray and Daimani Spear, 2 granddaughters Paris McCray and Sacha McCray, 4 great grandchildren Dontée Jr. Trevon, Messiah, Jasmin, 1 sister Lula Daniels (James Daniels), 1 brother Tyrone McCullough, 1 niece Gwendolyn McCullough, 2 nephews and a host of family and friends.
