Theresa M. Kunze

On Tuesday, January 19, 2021, Theresa Kunze passed away at the age of 77. She was the loving wife of Richie, devoted mother of Rina, Karen and Theresa and their husbands Jeff, John and Peter as well as a beloved and doting Grandmother of Melissa, Emily, Alex, Nicole, Nicholas and John, Christine and Victoria. She was born on December 12, 1943 to John and Theresa Massotti and married Richard Kunze, Jr. on October 17, 1964. Theresa touched the lives of so many people. She was a devoted Wife and Mom, taking care of everyone whether it was fighting for Title IX rights for her girls in school or being a Girl Scout Brownie leader for many years from when Rina started to when Theresa finished. Every year, there were cases of Girl Scout cookies piled around the living room waiting to be distributed. After teaching for Spencer Estate Nursery school, she began her own business, The Ceramic Corner. There are so many stories that could be told about the friends made there and the camaraderie that made it special over the 20+ years she ran her business. She was known as The Ceramic Lady. Her crafts and artistry are passed down to all her children and grandchildren in one way or another, especially Melissa who is now an art teacher. Theresa and Richie were heavily involved in the Askov Hall Beach Club, giving her kids and all the other kids down there a wonderful childhood. She coached the swim team, arranged all kinds of events and cooked for the whole club often. Her love of cooking and organizing events didn’t stop there. Later in life, Theresa and Richie found the Sandpiper Resort where she again ran events like the Women’s Club, Coffee on Tuesday morning and organized many events. It was there that she began fundraising for the AMI Privateers, a fundraising organization that gives college scholarships to deserving children in Florida. She loved her home in Florida and all the new friends who became her second family. She loved sitting outside on her porch or on her patio in the sun with her plants and flowers. She was outspoken but loving, She had no problem giving her opinion. She cared deeply for the community, her friends and family. The world won’t be the same without her. ❤️
