Henry O. Bovell

In Loving Memory Of Henry Ozzard Bovell Henry Ozzard Bovell was born on July 24, 1932 to Albertina and Ernest Bovell. He was a former Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources – Guyana, Secretary General of the International Bauxite Association – Jamaica; and Chief Executive Officer (Guystac). He died in Brooklyn, New York on April 10, 2020. He is survived by his three loving children: Henry Jr, Annie (Bridget) and Camille. Grandsons: Alfred and Sean and his five great grand children. He was predeceased by his son Bertrand a/k/a (Bertie) and previous wives Miriam Veronica Goring-Bovell and Jean Mingo-Bovell respectively. Henry studied at George Washington University and the University of Guyana majoring in Public Administration. After retiring, Henry took up one of many passions by engaging in sugar cane cultivation and marketing. Those who knew him well can certainly attest to his flair for “cooking-up” exotic dishes (especially Guyana’s wild meats, deboned stuffed chicken and curry “any style”); and was a culinary “King” in his own right. As a member of the Rotary Club of Georgetown – Guyana Henry was given many opportunities to “show off” his voice-range talent, especially at Christmas Caroling Events. He will be sadly missed by his sister, Maisie Walcott a/k/a Auntie Maisie, his loving children, grand-children, great-grand children, numerous nieces (especially Claire and her family, Paulette a/k/a May, Maude, Margaret, Barbara, Louise and Marjorie,) numerous nephews: Clifton, Cecil, Lennox, Sammy, Lancelot, Lyndon, William, and Ernest. Numerous cousins: Freddie, Yvonne, and David Jordan, “Rick” and George Grant, Lyndon Barton and Vibert Major, Marie Aaron, Carmen Babb and others. His many friends throughout the United States, (especially, Mr. & Mrs. John DeSilva. Robert Gardiner and Rampersaud Tiwari of Canada. Also Balram Singh Rai of London. Special thanks to Gwendolyn Mingo. In light of Covid-19 funeral arrangements for the late Henry O. Bovell was entrusted to Andrew Torregrossa & Sons, Inc. Funeral Home www.torregrossafuneralhome.com.
