Bernice Agatha Jegroo passed away on Friday, July 31, 2020, due to respiratory failure. She was 79 years old. She was born on October 28, 1940 in Guyana, South America to Christopher and Mary Raghubar. She was married to Simon Peter Jegroo, who preceded her in death in 2008. Bernice loved to dance, dine at great restaurants, good wine, her garden and especially jewelry; she wore the best accessories. For over 30 years, Bernice worked in the fashion industry in New York City. She was an excellent seamstress and pattern maker. She had a natural flair for fashion and enjoyed starting a trend. She had an amazing ability to start a conversation with anyone and make him or her feel special. Bernice was a dedicated mother and grandmother first and foremost. She would spend hours talking to her children about life experiences and about becoming the best they could be. She taught them to believe in themselves and stressed the importance of education. She adored her grandchildren and took advantage of any opportunity to be with them. They gave her such joy and she showered them with love. Bernice was the beloved mother of Bernadette, Trevor and Priya. She was a devoted grandmother to Raushan, Adam, Ashoka, Nadira, Anisa and Sanaya. Dear sister to Maurice, Bonnie, Lloyd, Frances, Peter, Benedict, Joseph, the late Bernard, Shirley, Julie, and Theresa; in addition to many nieces and nephews. Bernice will forever be remembered as a loving mother, devoted grandmother, and cherished friend to many. Although our hearts are heavy, we will continue to celebrate her life and know that she will be watching over us from heaven.
