Michele Sepe Obituary

Michele Sepe, 89 years old, went to be with the Lord on February 11, 2021. He was born March 8, 1931 to Carmine Sepe and Gaetana Fuschetto Sepe. Michele, the most devoted and loving husband, father and grandfather, is survived by his wife, Angelina; son, Michael; daughters, Nina and Roseann; daughter-in-law, Denise; son-in-law, Michael; grandchildren, Dominique, Ashley, Dayna, Sean, and Dean; great-grandson, Kayden; sister, Carmella; and brothers, Angelo and Mario. Michele grew up in the picturesque Italian mountain town of Saint Angelo di Lombardi, a town he described as a place where life was lived simply but to the fullest, where the little things were treasured, and nothing was wasted. He would recount stories of celebrations where the whole town would come together bringing their musical instruments and finest homemade dishes, and would sing and dance in the streets all night long. After World War II, Michele sailed to Argentina. On February 14, 1953 he married his childhood sweetheart, Angelina, setting out on a lifelong journey of love, support, partnership, and dedication to one another. They moved to America shortly thereafter in search of the best life they could build for the family they would someday create. As a young immigrant, Michele had little to his name but combined his natural talent with hard work. He and Angelina had three beautiful children and built a family on the foundation of love, respect, hard work, and the belief that family was everything, a legacy that has been passed down through the generations. Michele faithfully and tirelessly supported his family working on the Long Island Railroad where he helped build the masterful train network still used today by hundreds of thousands of Americans. He was incredibly skilled at everything he touched, and he pursued his work with integrity, grit, and dedication. Michele treasured the things that matter the most in this world, God, family, and great food. He had so much, yet had a servant’s heart and chose to live a humble, simple life. He valued spending time in God’s house every Sunday; was devoted to loving, serving, and providing for his family; and could always be found caring for his garden with his beloved bride. He loved going for long walks, cooking up a storm in his kitchen, and attending all of the gatherings with each and every member of his beloved extended family. Even at the ripe old age of 89 years old, he was known to climb to the top of his persimmon tree to pick hundreds of homegrown persimmons to share with family, friends and neighbors. His family will dearly miss hearing his stories and life lessons around his dining table while devouring his legendary baked clams. Michele was a great man whose legacy will forever be treasured by family and friends who love him dearly. His loving wife will forever remember him for selfless love, heart to care for and serve her well, and for a lifetime of friendship and devoted partnership. His children will always remember all the love he poured into faithfully serving and providing for their family. His grandchildren will remember him as the fun-loving PopPop who pushed them on the swings at the park as kids, bought them treats from the ice cream man, and always served up the most spectacular feasts at holidays. His humble, selfless life of love, sacrifice, generosity, integrity and hard work will forever be remembered by all who knew him. His family takes great comfort in knowing he is with his Lord and those family members and friends who have gone before him in faith. Visitation will be held Thursday, February 18th from 4:00 – 8:00pm at Andrew Torregrossa Funeral Homes. A Celebration of Life service will occur at 10 a.m. on Friday, February 19th at St. Finbar Roman Catholic Church Brooklyn NY.
