Celia Monplaisir Brooklyn, New York Obituary

Celia Monplaisir

As we bid our final farewell, let us celebrate the life of Celia Aline Monplaisir, who left this earthly plane on Friday May 22nd, 2015. She was born in Castries, St. Lucia on January 29, 1960 to McDonald and Marguerite Monplaisir. She spent her childhood days in St. Lucia, migrating to the United States as a teenager. Family meant everything to Celia, as a child, she always stood up for her siblings, even going so far as to fight for her brothers. This devotion to her family continued throughout her life and became stronger when it concerned her grandchildren. She was a woman of very strong convictions and steadfast in whatever beliefs she held dear - no one could sway her. She maintained this gruff exterior that never divulged the depth of her feelings, but her love of family was never called into question. Celia was an ardent sports enthusiast, in particular she loved; Golf, Tennis and Basketball and that love led to the most epic and passionate discussions you ever heard. Her favorite athletes were Phil Mickelson, Serena Williams, Larry Bird and Michael Jordan and you could not say anything bad about "MJ" in her presence, unless you wanted to witness firsthand her staunch support of him. She always cheered for the underdog and the unpopular choice. Next to Sports, Music was another of her passions; country music in particular and she loved to sing. Those close to her could always count on a Celia tailored sing-o-gram for special occasions or just because she was happy. For most of her adult life Celia was a home health aide, caring for many people over the years, with most of them becoming like family members. Her caring nature helped her develop a symbiotic rapport that led to her patients looking out for her as much as she did them. Left to cherish her memories are 5 children: Tessa Monplaisir, Marguerite-Anne Monplaisir, Genevieve Mondesir, Gabriel Mondesir Jr & Ianthie Mondesir. 5 Siblings: Mary Ursil Charlemagne, Christian Charlemagne also known as “Smile Mobile”, Raymond Manders Monplaisir, Patrick Aloysious Monplaisir and Felix Monplasir; 12 Grandchildren: Jeanine Monplaisir, Tehana Monplaisir, Jordan Monplaisir, Jamal Monplaisir, Vicky Monplaisir, Aaron Monplaisir, Ahsharya Bess, Christian Bess, Jade Mondesir, Brooke Mondesir, Andre LaRoche & Desiree LaRoche. Celia was predeceased by her parents Mc Donald Monplaisir & Marguerite Monplaisir nee Charlemagne, her siblings SFC Anthony Monplaisir and Bridget Anne Monplaisir.
