Raymond Finneran

Raymond P. Finneran (Ray), age 72 of Lake Carmel, NY died at home on April 29th, 2011. He was born on January 7th, 1939 in NYC, where he resided until 1990 when he moved to Lake Carmel. He was a graduate of Fordham University School of Business and worked for NY Telephone and AT&T until his retirement. He was in the U.S. Army reserves. He was predeceased by his wife, Agnes, his parents, Edna & Patrick Finneran and a nephew, Kevin Barwood. His survivors include his “younger” sister, Patricia Finneran Barwood of Hobe Sound, FL, his niece and godchild, Dawn Barwood of Stamford, CT, a great-niece and nephew, Caitlin & Sean Barwood-Parent also of Stamford, CT, his two cats, Princess and Suds, and his wild-life menagerie. Ray was a member of the American Parachute Club and had over 4,000 “jumps” in his log. His love of skydiving, animals and gardening was only surpassed by his love of family. Another achievement that he was proud of was his Black Belt in Karate. He was a kind, generous and very unique man. Those who loved him appreciated and respected him for this. Contributions may be made in his name to the Putnam County Humane Society, Old Rte 6, Carmel, NY 10512. A memorial service will be held on Monday, May 9th from 7 to 9 p.m. at Balsamo-Cordovano Funeral Home, 15 Church Street, Carmel, NY 10512. A mass to celebrate Ray’s life will be on Tuesday, May 10th @ 10:00 a.m. at St. James the Apostle Church, 14 Gleneida Ave - Carmel, NY 10512. Private interment to follow at a later date. Arrangements will be handled by Balsamo-Cordovano Funeral Home, 15 Church Street - Carmel, NY 10512, Phone: (845) 225-2144.
