FISHKILL – Robert Christopher Murphy, a resident of Fishkill since 2017 and formerly of Cold Spring, died at Vassar Brothers Medical Center in Poughkeepsie on Thursday, March 21, 2019. He was 68. He was born in New Rochelle on September 17, 1950, son of the late John and Marion (Morse) Murphy. He was raised in Yorktown Heights. Robert was a Vietnam War Veteran who served in both the U.S. Marine Corps and U.S. Navy. He worked as an electrician and was a member of the I.B.E.W. Local 501 (Westchester County). He retired in 2013 and became a member of the I.B.E.W. Retirees Club. For the past three years, Robert enjoyed visiting his house in Palm Coast, FL, where he and his wife would live throughout the winter months. He had a passion for motorcycles and loved riding and working on them. On September 29, 1973, he married Margaret “Meg” Matthews in Yorktown Heights. Meg survives at home in Fishkill. Additional survivors include his son, Sean Murphy & his wife Heather of Carmel; his daughter, Jean Murphy of Rochester; his grandchildren, Erin and Declan Murphy; his sister, Suzanne Murphy of Yorktown Heights; his sister-in-law, Terry Rodosky & her husband Mike of Florida; his nieces, Nicole Bryant and her husband Lt. Commander David Bryant, U.S.N., Melissa Matthews, and Samantha McCarty and her husband Don; his great-nieces and great-nephew, Caitlynn, Hannah, & Elijah Bryant; and many other loving relatives & friends. He was predeceased by his parents as well as his brother, John Murphy, who died in the Vietnam War. Calling hours will be held from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. on Monday, March 25 at the McHoul Funeral Home of Fishkill, Inc., 1089 Main Street, Fishkill. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, March 26 at St. Mary, Mother of the Church, 106 Jackson Street, Fishkill. Military Honors will be conducted immediately following the Mass.
