Douglas Bacon Obituary

Fort Edward Douglas M. Bacon, 71, of Fort Edward passed away due to complications from heart surgery on March 1, 2017 at Albany Medical Center. Doug was born on November 9, 1945 in Ticonderoga to the late Gilbert Bacon and Anna Mae (Barber) Gleason. He graduated from South Glens Falls High School in 1965. Doug married the love of his life and best friend, Deborah Middleton on May 1, 1975 by the Rev. Charles Bailey of the Fort Miller Reformed Church. Debbie passed away June 23, 2016. He retired from Suburban Propane in 2010, giving him plenty of time for his favorite people and favorite hobby. Doug was an avid fisherman with a collection of over 40 fishing poles and enough gear to fill a small house. He also enjoyed hunting, camping as well as spending time with his family and close friends, Linda and Larry Ball of Gansevoort, Marie Edson-Fleming of Glens Falls, and everyone at the Free Methodist Church in Warrensburg. He was a good hearted man who was always willing to go above and beyond. Not only for friends and family, but for complete strangers as well. Left to cherish his memory include his daughter, Sara Conklin (Donald) of Corinth, his grandsons, Chase and Donovan Conklin, also of Corinth; His Mother In Law, Rita Kilmer of Queensbury; his sister, Judy Phelps of Glens Falls, two nieces, Debbie Longo of Endicott, and Cherie Worthy of Meridianville, Alabama. Also, his Aunt Florence (Sissy) Green of South Glens Falls, and Uncle Lawrence Barber (Dolores) of Ticonderoga. He will also be missed by his in laws, Michelle Randall (Robert) of Glens Falls, Michael Middleton (Pam) of Queensbury, and David Middleton (Theresa) of Queensbury along with many other nieces, nephews and cousins. A Celebration of Life will be conducted at The Free Methodist Church of Warrensburg, 250 River Road, Warrensburg, NY on Saturday, March 11 at 4:30pm. To honor Doug’s memory, please do something nice for someone. Make a donation to your local food pantry, buy someone a coffee, volunteer at the school or soup kitchen, or write a check to your favorite charity. Kindness matters. Arrangements are in the care of M.B. Kilmer Funeral Home, 82 Broadway, Fort Edward, NY 12828. To view Douglas’ Book of Memories and post condolences online, please visit www.kilmerfuneralhome.com.
