Mary Ellen Martin, 78, passed away on Wednesday December 11th at her residence on River Street. She was the wife of the late LeRoy Martin. Mary was born on November 3, 1941, in Hoosick Falls daughter of the late Sherman and Bernice (Parker) Hoffman Sr. Mary was helped raised by her step dad Henry Lemon. She graduated from the Walter A. Wood High School in Hoosick Falls. Mary worked at Stanley Tools in Shaftsbury, VT, as a production worker. She was a past member of the Town of Hoosick Rescue Squad, and enjoyed playing bingo, trips to the casino's, bowling and her time spent with family. Survivors include her son Ed Martin (Julia Gerrett) of Brunswick, GA, sisters Cecile Green of Westfield, MA, Rita McCarthy (Ed) of Lake George, NY, brothers Sherman Hoffman (Joan), Thomas Lemon (Diane) and Steve Lemon all of Hoosick Falls, grandchildren Michael (Ofelia), April (Christopher)and Clint Martin(Amy),Caroline and Hannah, Great grandchildren Michael and Clint Martin Jr., Allie and Emily Christensen. Mary is predeceased by two sisters Doris Hoffman and Janet Reilly Rivers. Funeral services will be Monday December 16th, at 11:00 am from the Hoosick Baptist Church on South Street in Hoosick, NY. Relatives and friends may call at the church on Monday from 10:00 am until the start of the service. Memorial contributions may be made to the Second Chance Animal Shelter through the Mahar Funeral Home, 43 Main Street, Hoosick Falls, NY, who are handling the services.
