Roland Springer, 78, died peacefully at his home in Eagle Bridge NY on July 23rd. Roland was born on March 2, 1942 in Greenwich, NY to the late Roland and Hazel (Surdam) Springer. Roland was a Navy veteran, having served 20 years and retired as Chief Petty Officer. Following the Navy, Roland worked 20 years at St. Gobain/Allied Signal in Hoosick Falls. In his retirement years, Roland enjoyed many hobbies, including woodworking, enjoying his electronics, divulging in family ancestry, fishing, camping, and spending time with his family. Roland is predeceased by his wife, Lois (Hoffman) Springer, his parents Roland and Hazel Springer, sisters Patricia McGarvin and Lucy Moseley, and three nephews. Survivors include his two sons, Roland Springer (Liza Prouty) and Scott Springer (Terrie), five grandchildren, Lois, Erin, Alyssa, Roland and Casey, four great-grandchildren, brothers and sisters Charles (Alice) Springer of Eagle Bridge, Bob Springer of Ballston Spa, Richard (Marcia) Springer, Dorothy (Charlie) Dawley, Sally (Steve) Whittet all of Hoosick Falls, Gerrie (Gary) LaFlamme of Bennington, VT, Joe (Linda) Springer of Buskirk, and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Services will be Tuesday July 28th with visiting hours from 9am-11am at Mahar Funeral Home in Hoosick Falls and a graveside service for family at 1pm at West Hoosick Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made to Rensselaer Hospice.
