Timothy Holzhauer HOOSICK FALLS, New York Obituary

Timothy Holzhauer

On Thursday August 27, 2020, the world lost a kind, gentle soul who quietly made a big impact on many lives. In 2002, he married Carol Shiland Galvagni, a young widow, and welcomed her enormous family into his heart. He became a married man, a dad, and eventually known as Papa Tim. He carried the Papa Tim title proudly with the addition of 5 grandchildren over the past 18 years; Haley & Anna Galvagni, and Molly, Grady & Claire Frasier. He was a rock, a protector, and predeceased by his stepson Bryan Galvagni, parents George and Anne Holzhauer, and brother Peter Holzhauer. He was so loved by his stepdaughter and husband Stacey and Gary Frasier, cousins Edward (Becky) Greene, David (Leslie) Greene, Karen Kelly Gill, along with countless family and friends. Tim was a teacher of many skills, from Math lessons at the kitchen table, to driving a tractor, to making his famous sticky buns! He was an explorer of his land which suited his quiet demeanor. Tim was a gentle soul whose natural disposition was mild, yet when you listened closely, his frequent quips marked him as the clever and witty guy that we knew and loved. He was as quick of wit as he was on the football field and as a track star in his younger days, holding long time school records. His athletic skill didn’t stop there, Tim enjoyed bowling and pickle ball while spending time with his many friends! One might think that graduating from Cornell, an Ivy League School, would have earned him bragging rights, however being soft-spoken, a great listener, and modest in conversation, Papa Tim felt most accomplished with his family, often speaking of his late family members or the latest proud Papa Tim moment. Throughout his life, Tim was a daily example of kindness to others and he inspired all who knew him to do the same for family and community. He was a proud member of the Hoosick Mason Lodge as well as the Hoosick Volunteer Fire Department and spoke fondly of both places as well as the Hoosick Community. We pray that Tim’s memory live on by encouraging others to remember the little things that can truly brighten someone’s day! Funeral services will be Monday August 31, at 1:00 pm, from the Hoosick Baptist Church on South Street in Hoosick, NY. Arrengements are under the care of the Mahar Funeral Home, 43 Main Street in Hoosick Falls, NY. May his gentle soul rest in peace.
