HOPEWELL JUNCTION - Ida Turner, 86, an area resident since 2001 and formerly of White Plains, died on Sunday, October 13, 2013 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center. Born in White Plains in November 24, 1926, she was the daughter of the late Antonio and Elena (Scopeletti) Spinelli. At Mount Carmel Church in White Plains, she married Robert J. Turner who predeceased her on September 29, 1989. A devoted Jehovah's Witness, Ida was a member of Kingdom Hall in Hopewell Junction. Ida’s favorite season was the fall, and she loved picking up leaves and pressing them in books. She also enjoyed reading, cooking, and laughing. A loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great grandmother, Ida was devoted to her family. Ida is survived by her children, Karen Dauner and her husband Eugene of Hopewell Junction and Robert Turner and his companion Linda Penacchio of Pawling; her grandchildren, Adrienne Ida Volpe of Wallkill, Eric Volpe and his wife Beth of Cohoes, Jason Volpe and his wife Marianne of Hopewell Junction, Amber Kaiser and her fiancé Michael Schoonmaker of Wappingers Falls, Rachel Volpe of North Carolina, Michael Dauner and his wife Christine of Port Ewen, and Margaret Turner and her fiancé Peter Scolaro of Savage, MD; her great-grandchildren, Ashly Kaiser and her fiancé William Hunt, Trevor Volpe, Jemel Kaiser and his fiancée Brianna Sweet, Josh Dauner, Zoe Volpe, Rebekah Kaiser, Andreas Kaiser, Bridget Volpe, and Thor Volpe; her great-great grandchildren, Kida Kaiser and Zion Hunt; her sisters, Mary Spinelli and Virginia Falzerano and her husband John; her brothers, Aldo Spinelli, Gino Spinelli and his wife Esther, Victor Spinelli and his wife Marie, and Ernie Spinelli; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, Ida is predeceased by her siblings, Joe Spinelli, Tony Spinelli, Stella Spinelli, Gloria Benedetto, and Sandy Lidke. Calling hours will be held on Thursday from 1-3 and 6-8 pm at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction.
