Mrs. Helen Law peacefully departed this life on 10/7/2017 at the age of 92. She was born in Keystone, WV on 10/7/1925. She was preceded in death by her parents; Sam Johnson and Lucinda Hooper Scales. She spent the earlier years of her life in Keystone and Kimball, WV as a devoted wife, mother and home maker to her husband, the late Millard Filmore Law, their 10 sons and to a host of other friends and school mates her sons brought home. Despite all the things she had to do, she always managed to get her 10 sons ready for school and church. She was a devoted member of the Mt. Herman Baptist Church of Carswell (Kimball), WV. In 1969, she moved her family to Jamaica, Queens, NY. She worked as a presser in a local dry cleaner. Her friends, neighbors and family members knew they could call on her any hour of the day or night to assist them in any way that she could. After she retired from pressing, she began doing the things she liked the most; going to church, taking a drive to visit family and friends and playing dominos. No one could beat her at dominos. She was proud to have had 7 sons to honorably serve in the US Military; 4 Army, 2 Air Force and 1 Marine. She was a member of the Church of God in Christ Jesus, Jamaica NY. She was preceded in death by 4 sons; James Willie Whiteside, Jr., Howard Bruce Law (Shirl), Franza Franklin Law (Antoinette) and Johnny McArthur Law, and by 9 siblings; sisters: Lea, Alice, Willie, Sadie, Rosie, and Augustine, and brothers: James, Steve and Leo. She leaves behind 6 sons; Phalanders Filmore Law (Louise) of Welch, WV, Luster Lee Law of Jamaica, NY, Ophir Zarnett Law (Deborah) of District Heights, MD, Amon Linsey Law of Jamaica, NY, Decota Law (Jacquelyn) and Glen Donnell Thomas Law of Jamaica, NY., and she leaves behind 4 siblings; sisters: Martha Mae and Norma Jean, and brothers: Roger and Marshal. In addition, she leaves behind 28 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
