Henry Jackson

Henry Leroy Jackson was the first born to his beloved parents, the late Mr. Henry and the late Mrs. Mildred Jackson on January 26, 1943 in Bamberg, South Carolina. His family moved to New York when Henry was an infant. Henry was raised in the Rockaways; he attended Public School 42, Junior High School 198 and graduated from Far Rockaway High School. Henry attended two years at Brooklyn College a few years after being Honorably Discharged from the United States Army in 1968. After his discharge he was employed as a Postal Carrier. After so many introductions by friends, the tall dark and handsome Henry a.k.a “Jackson” started dating, fell in love and married Paulette Rowell (One of the prettiest ladies in the Rockaways). He affectionately called her “Red” because of her hair color. And she affectionately called him “Jack”. This covenant brought forth two Extraordinarily Beautiful daughters Cheri Diane and India C. Jackson. Jackson loved to party and have” Good Times” with all of his life long friends. He enjoyed Family Picnics, going to the Pocono Mountains, fishing, listening to music especially Barry White, dancing, playing cards, horseback riding, and always "looking at the pretty ladies". He was a true "ladies man". Jackson was a “thinker”; he loved National Geographic, War Documentaries, Western TV Shows and Comedies. In addition, he loved the Dallas Cowboys Football Team, The LA Lakers Basketball Team, Boxing and Golf. He had a great sense of humor and was known to speak his mind. To all those that he did befriend he was a Confidant, Loyal, Nonjudgmental and a True Friend to the end. As a child he even played piano for The Macedonia Baptist Church in Arverne. (Smile) In his latter times Jackson’s “Pretty Ladies” were his two daughters Cheri and India and his 1st Grandchild Cassiah the “Little One”. They were his back up, his strength and his Pride. They were Dedicated, Full of Love and fought for him always till his very end. When questioned about wanting sons He would say,” My girls can do the same thing like sons!” Daddy never felt disappointed. He always knew that his daughters were His Blessing. Henry accepted Jesus Christ as His Personal Lord and Savior and went Home to be with all those who left before him: his Lovely wife Paulette C. Jackson, both of his parents Henry and Mildred Jackson, his younger brother Reginald Jackson, and his “Ace” younger sister Phyllis Lee. Henry leaves to cherish his life: two daughters: Cheri Diane Jackson and India C. Jackson, 1st and only granddaughter Cassiah Diamond Jackson, two nephews: Lamont Lee, Terrill Lee, their wives Victoria and Monique Lee, two nieces Kamyah Harper and Kimberly Lee, and cousins: Joan Green , Shawn S. Harper and wife Karen Harper, a host of great nieces and nephews and other relatives. Best male friends: Arthur, Joe and Alfred, Best female friends: Crystal, Sylvia and Virginia and a great host of friends to numerous to count.
