Joyce Callender Jamaica, New York Obituary

Joyce Callender

Joyce was born in Jamaica on the 25th day of April 1935. As a mother, she was a very kind hearted, gentle, generous, compassionate, considerate, loving, warm, understanding and sociable person, who was blessed with a fine singing voice. Being mainly family orientated, Joyce had very few interests outside of her house and family circle. She was more than contended with what she already had around her, her house, husband and her family. Joyce was a friend to so many people and touched so many lives in so many different ways. Joyce’s integrity was never questioned because it was obvious to everyone that met her, that she had something about her that was steadfast and true. She was a staunch Christian, had strong principles that she believed in and lived by, but she was never judgmental and loved people the way they were. Joyce had a terrific sense of humor, she was extremely witty, and quite sharp. I don’t think she could shout at anyone, no matter how hard she tried, was never angry, at least not seen. A focus of love and affection that radiated out, and touched those of us who were privileged to have known her. We all have many happy memories and those we must hold dear to our hearts and cherish then as she cherished us. Many people come and go in our lives, but very few create any worthwhile and memorable impression, she did. She is survived by a sister Violet, step brother Derrick, sons Cecil and his wife Maxine, Rubhard (Starett) and his wife Dawn, daughters Sandra and her husband Sidney, Deborah, grandchildren, Phillip, Nadella, Sabrina, Rohan, Starett, Orett, Androe, Tavaine, Nicole, Bradley, Byron, Nathalee and Naomi. Fifteen great-grandchildren. Joyce, you have gone to be with your maker May you rest in eternal peace.
