Theresa Kiernan Kings Park, New York Obituary

Theresa Kiernan

Theresa was born in Bogota, Colombia and came to U.S. when she was 19 years old. She worked as a nanny before serving as a nurse's aide at Mary Immaculate Hospital where she loved looking after the babies. She married the love of her life, John Kiernan, in 1958 and they celebrated their 50th anniversary in January of 2008 prior to his passing in May of that year. They had four children, John Jr. (Sunnyvale, CA), Lou (Knoxville, TN), Rich (Raleigh, NC), and Terry (Boston, MA). She was the proud grandmother of Sean, Brian, and Craig and proud mother-in-law of Kim Montabon Kiernan, all of Knoxville. She was an avid gardener with an amazing green thumb, enjoyed bowling with her friends on Mondays, and spending time with the Homemakers group on Tuesdays doing crafts and charity work. She also liked playing cards with her friends from the old neighborhood in East Northport who she knew for over 50 years. She had a tremendous curiosity about how things work, a playful sense of humor, and a big smile that revealed her joy for life (we don't think she ever took a bad picture). She was an amazing lady, a very loving wife, mother & grandmother, and a great friend to all who knew her. She will be greatly missed. In lieu of flowers, contributions to the American Heart Association would be appreciated. www.heart.org
