Ann Baraczek Obituary

Ann Baraczek, 92, of Auburn died peacefully at Matthew House, surrounded by her family on Thursday, February 5, 2015. Ann was born in the Town of Owasco at the family farm on Barski Road, the daughter of the late Stephen and Fesca Barski. Ann was a graduate of Skaneateles high school and Paulson Business School. She retired From General Electric Auburn after a great 39 year career. Ann enjoyed dancing the polka, golfing which included a hole in one that she was very proud of, cooking her favorite Ukrainian foods and traveling around the world with her best friend and traveling companion, Gladys Sponable. She loved laughing and being with all her friends. Most of all, Ann enjoyed spending time with her family, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She was always giving back to her community and church, and her lifelong devotion to her parish SS Peter & Paul. She would transport food to families in need and spent 50+ years with the ladies at the UNC making pierogies. Ann was the best "runner" there was. She also gave 20 years to our Auburn Community Hospital as a volunteer, delivering papers and a big smile to the sick. She is survived by her two sons Jack Baraczek and his wife Jean of Auburn, Robert Baraczek and his wife Laurel of Chicago. Her grandchildren, Todd, Mark, Chase, and Lauren Baraczek, John and Maura Bradley, two great grandchildren, Ryan, born on Ann's 90th birthday, and Luke Baraczek. Two Brothers, Joseph and Stanley Barski, and several nieces and nephews. Ann was predeceased by her husband John, sisters Mary Maywalt, Helen Hogansan, and Walda Allen, and brothers, Frank, John and Michael Barski. Funeral services will be held Monday, February 9th at 10:15 am in SS Peter & Paul Church. Christian burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Friends and family are invited to call 4pm – 7 pm, Sunday February 8 at Plis Funeral Home, 220 State Street, Auburn. Contributions may be made in her memory to the Matthew House or Hospice of the Finger Lakes. Read Ann Baraczek's Obituary and Guestbook on www.plisfuneralhome.com.
