Donald Lewis Obituary

Donald B. Lewis, 56, of Marietta, NY, died at sunrise on Saturday morning surrounded by his family, while watching deer in the field across the street and while his dog slept at his feet. Born on August 30, 1955 in Petoskey, Michigan, Don spent his life enjoying the outdoors through fishing and hiking and sharing that joy with his children. He started his successful career in advertising painting billboards, then graduated to Super Bowl television commercials, and finished as a teacher of computer and art design at Onondaga Community College and as a freelance advertising consultant, while taking a brief break in 2004 to work in an Oregon vineyard. Dad hated pool maintenance, text messaging, Facebook, and disorder. He loved trees, fishing, hiking, more fishing, boogie boarding, drawing, gardening, teaching, camping with his children, and more fishing. Husband of the Reverend Karen C. Lewis (Interim Priest at Trinity, Geneva) for 34 years, father of three, and GrandDon to three grandchildren. Don is also survived by three brothers and one sister, and a wonderful group of nieces and nephews. All services will be private at the request of the family. Memorials in memory of Don's life may be sent to St. Matthew's Episcopal Church, 14 Church St., Moravia, New York 13118. We will miss his wit, love, compassion, quiet presence, intelligence, and mustache. Well done good and faithful servant, rest in peace.
