Edmund William "Trapper" Walczyk, 86, of Auburn, died Sunday April 10, 2011, at Mercy Health & Rehabilitation Center. He spent the weekend surrounded by family and friends. "Trapper was born in Auburn on November 25, 1924, the son of the late Anthony and Mary Babiarz Walczyk. He attended Auburn schools. He was an Army veteran of WW II, serving in France. He received the Purple Heart. He was retired from General Electric, Auburn, and attended St. Hyacinth's Church. He loved animals, especially dogs. He enjoyed trapping, hunting and fishing. He was a founding member of the Falcon Sportsman's Club. He collected antiques, rocks and minerals, and Native American Artifacts. He is survived by nephews Brian (Sally) and sons Kurt and Mark of Pulaski, Bruce (Ester) and children Herbert, Harvey and Nellie of New Hartford, sisters-in-law Felicia of Auburn and Juliane of Liverpool, numerous cousins and dear friends. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his brothers Henry and Phil Walczyk and his sister Phyllis Caldwell. Services for Trapper will be at 1 P.M. Saturday in St. Hyacinth's Church. Burial will be at a later date in Sampson Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
